Where can you put car stickers in Ireland?
You can place car stickers and decals on the bodywork, the bumper and the rear windows. However, the Road Safety Authority is clear that anything limiting the driver's view to the front or side should be removed. Keep the windscreen and front side windows free of stickers, and remember that a tinted sun strip reaching below the top of the wipers fails the NCT. Never cover lights, indicators or number plates.

Will a windscreen sun strip fail the NCT?

Will car stickers damage my paintwork?
No, not on intact factory paint. Quality vinyl car decals can be removed without harming the paintwork if you do it carefully. Warm the decal with a hairdryer, peel it back slowly at a low angle and remove any remaining adhesive with a mild cleaner.
Can I take my car through a car wash with decals on it?
Yes, once the adhesive has fully bonded. Wait a few days after applying new car decals before using an automatic car wash. Hand washing is the gentlest option, and you should never aim a pressure washer directly at the edges of a sticker.
How do I apply car decals in cold or damp weather?
Vinyl sticks best in mild, dry conditions. Avoid frosty mornings, rain and direct midday sun. If it is cold outside, apply your car decals in a garage, make sure the surface is completely dry and give the adhesive a little longer to bond before driving in the rain.
Can I put car stickers on a freshly painted car?
Wait until the new paint has fully cured before applying any car sticker, as fresh paint can react with the adhesive. Your body shop can tell you how long to wait for the paint they used.
